I bought the Drinkwell Pet Fountain and I don’t find it hard to clean at all, but it takes a couple times taking it apart and reassembling it to remember where the parts go! I have three cats and they all took to it right away even when I brought my kitty Zoey home at 2 months she was able to drink out of it right away.

Some owners mention that it makes noise the only time it makes noise is when the water level gets low it spits and sputters and then I go fill it up again. I drink distilled water and so do the cats I keep a bottle right next to the fountain for quick filling.

I live in a apartment with only one receptacle and have limited floor space to place my pet fountain, so I use a extension cord. I can say to those of you in the same predicament keep the fountain as far away from your trash can as possible. If you toss something in and it misses the can it could land in your water bowl, also if you empty your smaller trash into your kitchen can stuff can fly out and dirty your bowl. If you have only one receptacle the Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain it has a six foot cord for a longer reach.

I also recommend that you keep your water a good ways from your pet food. Many owners make mention their pet drops the food into the water thus you have to clean it more.
