Tiny Gray Bugs Under Cats’ Water Bowl What are They?

When I picked up my cats’ water bowl to clean, some tiny gray bugs crawled out from underneath. I flipped the bowl over to inspect it and found what appeared to be THOUSANDS of them. They don’t have wings and they jump like fleas. I was afraid they were fleas at first, but they’re much smaller and not the same color as fleas. Their bodies are rice-shaped and they’re just gray all over, almost silver.

They’re so small, I would have easily missed one if it was by itself. I washed every inch of the the entire bowl, dried the underside thoroughly, and cleaned the floor where I keep the bowl. What are these things and how do I keep them away?!

Drinkwell Pet Fountain as a holiday gift?

My girlfriend is quite picky when it comes to gifts. She wouldn’t admit it, but I can tell when I present her gifts that she is not amused. So this year, I’m striving for success. She absolutely adores her two cats, and I’m thinking a gift for them is just as good as gift for her.

What I found was a Drinkwell Pet Fountain, and I’m thinking she’ll love it because I know her cats will. BUT, before I buy it, I wanted to know if anyone owns one or has had any experience with them?

Again, trying to get things right this year. : )

Cheers

Has anyone had a cat develop FLUTD while on a raw food diet?

Hey guys,
My 1.5 year old male neutered cat began straining and producing small amounts of bloody urine this morning. He’s been eating Nature’s Variety Organic chicken raw food since he was a kitten and he has a Drinkwell Platinum water fountain. I took him to the vet and among other things, she prescribed Royal Canin SO(pouches). I’m not a big fan of prescription diets, but I want my boy to be healthy.

Royal Canin’s SO diet doesn’t look as bad as Hill’s C/D diet, ingredient-wise. Anyway, I’ve noticed that a lot of people recommend that pet parents switch to a high-quality canned food instead of a prescription diet and that many people have had success with this. But what about my kitty? Has anyone fed a high-quality raw or canned diet and still had urinary tract issues?

I’m rather bummed out that my boy isn’t feeling well, despite my best efforts to prevent any illness. Thoughts, advice, comments, criticisms, please?

How to get senior kitties to drink more water?

What I’ve already done:
Bought a Drinkwell Platinum-they refused to use it at all and I gave up after several months. The only use they got out of it was pulling out the aqua garden and batting it around.

Put down several bowls of water in different locations in the house
Started using only store-bought gallons of purified water for all my pets.

Switched them from Purina dry to Wellness Indoor Dry and many daily servings of various Wellness and Innova wet foods whenever they scream (I’m talking several times an HOUR when I’m home)
What else can I do? I REALLY want to get them to use the fountain, but I’ve already tried everything-dragging them over to it, putting it right next to the couch where they hang out all day, putting their food right next to it, even pouring liquid catnip in it. nothing whatsoever.

Could I maybe get them to use it if I put ice in it? My ferrets love icy water so maybe they would too…but than again my ferrets also loved the drinkwell. My cats have never been allowed in bathrooms because of the risks of my parents dropping pills so they never wanted to drink from the tap. What else can I do?

Have a Drinkwell Fountain for the cats, can the puppy drink out of it too?

I have a Drinkwell Pet Fountain with the 50 oz. reservoir for our two cats. We are getting a puppy next month and were hoping we could use the fountain we have now for the puppy.

The fountain filters the water, and if needed, we could always get the bigger reservoir which is 70 oz.

Anyone see any issues with this?
